Winter is Back for now!!!!
April 7, 2011
After several days of spring that felt like spring, winter like conditions have returned to Tahoe today, and it will remain cold through Saturday.
A cold low pressure system moving through the Sierra brought several inches of snow overnight, with more on the way. Snowfall should peak this morning, with about 6 to 10 inches total by this afternoon at 7000 feet and a foot or perhaps a bit more at the highest elevations around the Basin. Snow will taper to scattered snow showers this afternoon.
Friday is likely to remain cool and blustery as this system moves inland through Southern California and brushes the Sierra as it slides east. The eastern slope could see some more snow from the backside of this system.
Temperatures will be warmer Saturday but still below normal for this time of year. Sunday's conditions will be similar. Another low pressure system heading for California might make itself felt as early as Sunday night but we won't likely see any rain or snow by then. The weather, however, could remain unsettled into next week.
