Incline Village Real Estate Weather Report Updated 12/30/2011
It looks as if Tahoe is in for at least another week to 10 days of dry weather before any significant storms head our way. Great time to come up and look at real estatewhile the ground is still dry.
Several systems are forecast to push into Washington and Oregon over the next week, starting today. Oregon is getting hammered this morning, and rain is forecast to fall as far south as Lassen. We could even see a snow shower or two at the higher elevations around Tahoe late today or Friday. But no accumulations are expected. Breezy conditions will probably be the most evident effect from this system.
Another system around Tuesday or Wednesday will likely stay further north, and a third toward the end of next week could be the best of the trio. This far out, the forecast models are still showing that one possibly delivering a few inches to Tahoe. But these are all still just brushing past Tahoe on their way east. They are not the direct hit we are looking for.
The change we need is for the ridge of high pressure over the Eastern Pacific to move further west, toward Hawaii. That will allow the storms to drop out of the Gulf of Alaska and straight down the Pacific Coast rather than pushing inland before they come our way. There are some signs that this could happen in the second week of January. No guarantee, but that's the best we can hope for right now.
Northstar is holding up the best right now for skiing. 26 open runs and more snow on the ground than all the other Tahoe Resorts combined. I just finished skiing day 12. Conditions were great all along till the warm weather hit yesterday. Stay tuned, Tim Lampe
