It's going to be a cool and possibly soggy weekend in the Tahoe Basin.

A storm system that brought two to five inches of wet snow to the region's peaks Thursday and Thursday night will move east of the area today. High winds with the passage of the front will likely kick up some whitecaps on the Lake, and a lake wind advisory is in effect through this afternoon.

Another similar but probably weaker system is due Friday afternoon. This one looks like it will deliver even less precipitation to the Basin, although one computer forecast model persists in showing the storm tapping into more moisture than the other models. Even the wetter scenario will not likely produce much accumulation, however.

A couple of more waves of energy are likely Saturday and Sunday, bringing a persistent chance of scattered showers, with rain and higher elevation snow but little to no accumulation. This weather more than anything is going to be a nuisance for folks who want to be outside.

Early next week we should see at least a brief drying trend as a weak ridge of high pressure builds over the area. But more unsettled weather is possible by Wednesday.
