Tahoe is in the midst of a warming trend that should carry into the weekend. But in the short term we might still seem some rain showers, and by Sunday night several days of cooler, unsettled weather will head our way.

For the moment we are sitting south of the jet stream carrying a series of storms across the Pacific Northwest. A weak ridge of high pressure is keeping those storms from reaching Tahoe and allowing our temperatures to slowly rise toward normal.

A bit of energy will likely bring some clouds our way Saturday, and rain as far south as Interstate 80, but temps will still rise to normal for this time of year.

Then look for change by Sunday night. A fairly strong and moist low pressure system out of the Pacific Northwest is forecast to drop into Northern California and the Sierra, bringing rain and snow to the region Sunday night and Monday. Snow levels will start out above 7000 feet and then drop to around 6000 feet as the front moves through. We could see a few inches of accumulation from this system.

Another system is on track to cross the Sierra by mid-week.
