Incline Village Weather: Endless Winter
Lake Tahoe Weather provided by the Weather Geek and Posted by Tim Lampe.
June 2, 2011
More winter-like weather is on its way to Tahoe for the weekend. But if all the snow we've had lately has finally convinced you to bring out the gear again and get some, this might not be the time. Snow levels will be fairly high, at least until late Sunday.
We're still in the final stages this morning of a weak storm that's brought a dusting of snow to Truckee, Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe and a few inches at the higher elevations around the Lake. That system should be on its way east by this afternoon, and Friday should be warmer and fair.
But a low pressure system dropping down the Pacific coast is forecast to park itself off San Francisco Saturday and Sunday. The system will be close enough to send waves of energy, and showers, over Northern California and the Sierra foothills.
Whether those showers make it to the crest and into the Tahoe Basin will depend on exactly where the low sets up, but it seems likely that Tahoe will have cooler temperatures, cloud cover and a chance of rain and snow. Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Snow levels will probably be around 8000 feet Saturday and much of Sunday. As the low moves inland late Sunday we could see snow levels drop toward 5000 feet.
At this point this system looks to be mainly a nuisance for early June. Cold and damp but not cold enough to produce much snow worth playing in!
Hang in there. Summer will be here soon enough. But our damp spring looks to continue. After a warm-up in the middle of the coming week, yet another cold low pressure system is in the 10 day forecast for next weekend....
