Tahoe Culture. Weekend Weather Update Incline Village 2/4/2011
Thank you Tahoe Weather Geek for all the updates.!! Tim Lampe, Real Estate Agent, Incline Village, Nevada
Incline Village residents and visitors are in for another week to 10 days of unseasonably warm, dry mid-winter weather. But all the signs are beginning to point to a change in the pattern around Feb. 12 or shortly after.
Sometime in mid-February we should begin to see the ridge of high pressure that's been sitting off the Pacific Coast since New Years begin to retrograde to the west.
As it moves, it will finally open the storm door to some winter storms for Tahoe. If it moves a little, we'll get some blasts of cold arctic air. If, as is now forecast, the ridge moves further west, we will get some cold winter storms with moderate snowfall. If the ridge moves far out into the Pacific or north into the Gulf of Alaska, we could finally get some serious winter storms again.
It's too early to say how far the ridge will shift. But all the forecast models are pointing to a pattern change by around Valentine's Day.
In the meantime, this weekend will be warm and mild. Enjoy it. With any luck it will be the last warm weekend of winter.

MONTHLY WEATHER ALMANAC JANUARY
Sunday's storm saved January from being one of the very driest on record for Tahoe, pushing Truckee's precipitation up to 6 percent of normal for the month and South Lake Tahoe's to 5.6 percent. Still an extremely dry month, and February is off to a similar start.
